The assignment was to do a historical piece... I decieded on the bombing of Hiroshima. After struggling to come up with how I wanted t represent it I decided to base my idea on the work Barefoot Gen.. which I found to be one of the most powerful books I've ever read.
Definitely reminds me of the book "Hiroshima." The sparing use of color is very evocative, and i love the white fog/smoke/mist in the background- it both conveys smoke and dust rising from the wreckage and reminds me stylistically of Japanese art.
I watched the movie in both eng and jap yesterday and I have to say it was the most emotional movie I have ever seen, also Grave of the Fireflies is an awesome movie aswell.
Very beautiful work!! I'm working currently on a yaoi comic called 'Lines That Divide' about this very insident. If you're into that sort of thing, I'll e-mail it to you...It takes a lot of researching though!!! CONTINUE YOUR AWESOME ARTWORK!!! Like to see more from you!!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
