spring 05/ Acrylic
The assignment was to do a historical piece... I decieded on the bombing of Hiroshima. After struggling to come up with how I wanted t represent it I decided to base my idea on the work Barefoot Gen.. which I found to be one of the most powerful books I've ever read.

Definitely reminds me of the book "Hiroshima." The sparing use of color is very evocative, and i love the white fog/smoke/mist in the background- it both conveys smoke and dust rising from the wreckage and reminds me stylistically of Japanese art.

I watched the movie in both eng and jap yesterday and I have to say it was the most emotional movie I have ever seen, also Grave of the Fireflies is an awesome movie aswell.

Very beautiful work!! I'm working currently on a yaoi comic called 'Lines That Divide' about this very insident. If you're into that sort of thing, I'll e-mail it to you...It takes a lot of researching though!!!
